Temple Youth Groups
ToSTY Juniors (Grades 3-5)
ToSTY Juniors, open to all temple members in grades 3-5, is the junior youth group of Temple Shalom. The purpose of this group is to build social relationships with other Jewish youth outside of the educational environment. Under the supervision and guidance of their advisor, Freddi Lake, children will experience opportunities for personal growth, engage in community service and enrich their Jewish identity. Diverse programming is designed to be stimulating and conducive to the development of strong social bonds among the children, and our Jewish tradition.
Membership is FREE and there are five events over the course of the year! Most events will take place on Sunday mornings, after Hebrew School. There may also be out “off site” event scheduled. This is a wonderful opportunity for your children to make new friends in a fun, Jewish environment.

ToSTY Teens (Grades 8-12)
The ToSTY Teens, open to all members of Temple Shalom, is the senior youth group of Temple Shalom. We have an enthusiastic Leadership Council, led by long standing members of the Temple Shalom youth programs who plan and lead all of our events. Our events are a mix of social action/community service and fun activities. We have planned a full calendar of events including a murder mystery evening, an Escape Room challenge, a Target shopping spree to donate to those in need and of course our annual Shul-in. ToSTY also runs the High Holy Day Youth and Family Services, the Purim Carnival as well as a Hanukkah Party for the Hebrew school
Wayne Christie, chair of the Youth Committee, along with Jean Christie, are advisors for ToSTY, whereby they mentor the leadership council. Wayne and Jean have been involved in youth work for many years including serving as a coordinator for the Youth Services during the High Holy Days. He and his wife, Jean, help parents and teens work together in strengthening their Jewish connections to Temple Shalom and Reform youth.
All Jewish teens in grades 8-12 are welcome to join ToSTY.
